General information about Costa Blanca
Costa Blanca (in English: White Coast) is the name of the 200 km coastline in the Province of Alicante belonging to the autonomous community of Valencia. It extends from the towns of Denia in the north, beyond which lies the Costa de Valencia, to Torrevieja in the south, beyond which lies the Costa Calida. The major tourist destinations Benidorm and Alicante are also situated at the Costa Blanca. Its name, Costa Blanca, refers to the traditional white-painted houses that you can see all around the coast.
The Costa Blanca is today one of the most important areas for the Spanish economy. The increasing number of tourists causes also an increasing construction volume. All throughout the region there are already 13 golf courses with urbanisations of 20,000 accommodation units. Other 52 projects like these are already planned as well as 70.000 other building projects.
Because of its mild and Mediterranean climate and its 101 mainly sandy beaches, the Costa Blanca is a popular vacation destination as well for Spaniards as for a lot of tourists from all over Europe.
